Probably still the most common languages in use and for
good reason.
The situation was a little different in the early days of
micros, where compilers were either none existent, or of
very poor quality. Certainly true with some of the machines
I worked with, where the assembler and full screen editor
were both written in assembler. late 70's to late 80's time
frame...
