I usually don't need to. And when I do need to add software, the
tooling is usually better and the apps and services more current.
The homebrew tooling on macOS is far beyond PCSI, for instance.
Other platforms have equivalent and some quite probably better tooling
than homebrew, too.
I've previously suggested spending some time on other platforms, beyond
OpenVMS and Windows.
With installations or operations or app development or whatever.
Whether that's with Linux or BSD or seL4 or Windows Server or macOS or
otherwise.
Familiarity with different ideas and approaches and tools, and both
positive and negative experiences, can help with OpenVMS management and
app development, too.

If there are folks here that seriously think that assembler and machine
code are reasonable languages for an app intended to connect to remote
mail servers via TLS, maybe it's time to look at some newer tooling?
