They are treasures. Hack around with older machines here too, but the
first thing I do is to blow all the dust out and take the fans out for
a service, which used to be standard yearly procedure for some service
organisations. If you gently lift the label on fans, the bearings are
exposed and the ball bearing types in particular can be refurbished well
given a couple of drops of light machine oil, then put the label back.

Nothing kills electronics faster than over temp and clogged up noisy
fans don't help...
