[Info-vax] Main cabinet fault indicator on an MSA1000

One more question in case anyone knows.
Everything is working, no fault lights, but one of the messages that showed up during the MSA startup on the controller but not in the eventlog was an '85 bad firmware' on one of the disks.
The maintenance guide says you need a proliant to do disk firmware updates on an MSA and boot the Proliant from a storage update CD (the link is no longer valid, but this might be the Proliant Service Pack or the earlier equivalent, we have some of those but no fiber-equipped Proliants). Was there any means for doing the disk firmware updates from VMS?
As an alternative it looks like we can pull that disk and plug it directly into a Proliant and use the appropriate PSP or equivalent to update its firmware.
But the MSA was running for > 350 days when we powercycled and had not reported that error before...
Thanks
Rich
