Yes, there are folks that have used SSD storage with OpenVMS Alpha.  
You'll find some previous discussions here.  Downside is that both the 
adapter and the limits of the PCI-X will be "clipping" the available 
I/O performance.  And the adapters are (were?) expensive.  David Turner 
had a test here a few years ago, for instance.  No TRIM support in 
OpenVMS too, which means that SSD performance can suffer further, too.  
 This unless the particular SSD itself treats a zero sector write as an 
implicit TRIM, and if OpenVMS erase-on-delete is enabled.
