If I had a dime for every time I have been told this.
Do you have a wife? Children? Ever walk thru the house turning
of lights left on by others? How about the use of hair dryers or
curling irons? Ever look at what they draw? My PDP's which are
only one when I need them draw 200 Watts. Less than the two 150
Watt lamps in the living room that I find turned on every time I
walk thru it. 200 Watts of lights in the bedroom, often left on
all day. According to a web site on residential power usage
puts my PDP-11's at about $0.02 an hour. They seldom run for
more than a couple hours a day when I need them and never for
more than 8 hours a day. That's $0.16 a day. I have PC's
with bigger PSU's.
