Everybody does.  If you look inside just about every newer compiler these
days, even recent versions of gcc, you will find llvm.

People use llvm because it just works.

They could do that.  The problem with doing that is that now your 
system is that much farther away from everyone else's, although it's
true Apple hasn't minded doing that sort of thing in the past.

But Apple is not the only user of llvm, they aren't even the major user.
