All,
Today we migrated a 2-node rx2800 i2 cluster from one SAN - Hitachi VSP - to another solution - Hitachi 1500. During the migration both fabrics were presented to VMS which saw both fine. (We have 1 2-port HBA in each node) We went from seeing 2 paths to the SAN switch to 4 paths. All and good.
So what I did is I manually switched each device path from the old SAN to the new one. Afterwards I reconfigured booting using SYS$MANAGER:BOOT_OPTIONS. Also all and good.
After I completed the switching, and made note that each device had i/o going to the new SAN the Hitachi folks "de-zoned" the old SAN, effectively removing it from the mix.
I then reran SYSMAN> io auto
Afterwards, two possible issues that have me somewhat concerned:
The old paths, from the de-zoned SAN, are showing as "unavailable". I would imagine this will disappear after the next node/cluster reboot?
On the old path, of the two possible paths one was always marked as being "primary". This is no longer the case on the new SAN with the new paths. Off the top of my head I cannot think of a way to set one of the paths as primary. Is there a DCL command to do so?
Thanks in advance.
Rich
