Alpha was forced on MS by getting caught by Digital and then the
Digital-Microsoft "Alliance" was the result:

MS never accepted Alpha, but was forced to adopt by legal agreements. Even
the Alpha Windows porting was done mostly by DEC and its DECwest team(s).
