As I understood things, VSI was providing patches back to HPe. I guess
that from some talk back a while about HPe getting higher level support
from VSI. At least, I think that's what I read. Or, VSI could have
given the patch to HPe without any contractual obligations. No real
loss to them.
As for moving to VSI support, I think I've been suggesting that for a
while now.
Regardless, with their own release, VSI should have the right to sell
support without going through HPe, at least for those using that release.
