Could be misremembering but I though the menu was a DCL script
that made the installs a little easier than wading thru every
disk looking for what you wanted.

Not sure which answer you want to hear, but by comparison it
isn't VMS.

The only reason the initial install went as well as it did was
that I have done it in the past, many, many times. And I still
had to get out a book and read up on it. I have never needed
to look at any documentation to install any version of Windows
since at least 2000. Or Linux, or any opf the BSD's that I just
did three of on three different architectures in one evening.

And, while I have your attention. I mentioned trying to connect
between my various machines using DECNET. It seems my non-VMS
machines send out regular broadcasts of LAT Protocol 0x6004
offering information about themselves. Some process, probably
latd, collects this and makes it available to the program that
handles connections for logging in. Anybody ever hear about
anything like this on VMS?
