Availability may be less of an issue in an hobbyist environment. Access
to commonly used data from multiple nodes (different architectures,
different OS versions) may be more important.
A failing quorum disk may affect the cluster, regardless of it being a
system disk or not at the same time. How much the cluster is affected
depends on the number of additional nodes.
