DEC's LMF design was and is wonderfully flexible and elegant for the 
LMF developers and for the folks creating licenses.

Less than user-friendly for the folks using and variously paying for 
the licenses, though.

This having just gone through another couple of rounds with LMF.  And I 
know how it works.

Or as I prefer to refer to that: if you license a wholly-new OpenVMS 
deployment with VSI, you pay more for your licenses.

VSI OpenVMS Alpha has a pair of PAKs.  If you're stuck with LMF, 
OpenVMS Alpha licensing is less hostile than it has been.
