Folks,
Good news! I successfully installed Jnet 3.5 on VMS 4.7 system. My 1st
attempt was failure. It tried to create POSTMASTER but it crashed with DCL
error about "-". Then my 2nd attempt was successful without creating
POSTMASTER account. I examined script in KITINSTALL.COM. I checked UAF and
noticed that POSTMASTER was already created during 1st attempt. So weird.
So I configured Jnet by executing JAN_LIB:JANCONFIG.COM and Jnet is up and
running on VMS 4.7.
I only have TCPNJE driver for JNet 3.5. I have to find BSC driver for it to
emulate DUP11 device on SIMH as handling TCPNJE links. Only DECnet links
are working at this time.
I plan to install CMU TEK 65 package but someone told me about serious
performance problems on real hardware. Does anyone have any solutions
about performance issues?
Does anyone have any alternative TCP/IP stack for VMS v4.x system like
Wollongong, etc.?
Ok, I will contact Andy about adding JNet 3.5 on his package as working
software for VMS v4.x system.
Tim
