I have a Xerox 1750 (Diablo 1650) in the attic that I used until I ran out 
of complete printwheels.  When the last printwheel fell apart, I pulled an 
HP Deskjet 500 out of the scrap pile at work, cleaned it up and ran it for 
10 years until it actually failed.  The 1750 also came out of the scrap pile 
at work.

Dot graphices eh?  I suppose you could print those ascii Playboy bunnies
on one - that should use about six of the petals on the printwheel, I expect
that you could wear out a printwheel pretty fast doing graphics but most
of the printwheel would still be brand new.
