I think it is a sligtly different approach. But I have not looked much
into it. There are other aspects of the module system that I find more
interesting.

JavaFX got removed and they are supposedly considering moving
AWT & Swing out in the future as well.
They seem to be targeting a "slim core Java with addons for context
specific functionality" model.
