Dave,
You are missing the most important point. Certification is
required, often regulatory. (Think Nuclear Power Plants)
Certification can cost millions of dollars and take years to
accomplish. Employees, contractors and consultants can make
all the suggestions they want. It won't get a system certified.
You do know that some GE Nuclear Power Plants are still being
controlled by PDP_11's, right?
