No, I understand those limitations. I was responding to Michael's post
as a general issue, not where there are certifications that take priority.
Regardless, at some level, technical people need to inform management of
options. That's the only way the management will know about such options.
As for the GE installations, perhaps they intend to run the PDP-11s
until the plants close. Or GE would be the entity that would need to
certify newer options. One would hope they would have learned the
lessons from the past.
