It was always "Mac", not MAC.

And it's now now, not twenty years ago.

Where did I claim that? Go flog your dead straw horse
elsewhere?

I _will_ claim that many classes of tasks would be much
more difficult without freeware programs like bzip2, gzip,
Info-ZIP Zip and UnZip, VMSTAR, Wget, any number of other GNU
programs, and a host of others, written and maintained by
many people (who have access, one way or another, to the OS
and compilers).

You have my permission to try to get your work done
without using any of them, and, if you can, then I can offer
only a mixture of amazement and admiration. When HP[E]
(and/or, perhaps, VSI, but how would I know?) distributes
patches as Zip archives, then it would seem that at least
some of these programs have some value to the entire customer
base.
