Always a bit funky to discuss a made up scenario.

But I think it is rare enough today that it may qualify
as obsolete in the context.

I believe that.

I also suspect that the actual recovery rate may turn
out somewhat less than 100% if attempted to read them all.
Bad tapes, bad tape drives etc..
