Just looking at a $20 note, right on the front, "This note is legal 
tender for all debts public and private".

So inthe USA, legally, cash must be accepted for any debt.  Doesn't 
actually addres whether a seller has to sell to a buyer.  But, that 
brings into play the lawyers, you know, those who live on other people's 
money.
