This passivity of VSI regarding ISV applications is certainly not
limited to RDB... We hear absolutely nothing from VSI about ISVs who
have committed (or not) to port their product to VMS on X86, and for
people like me who are (or, better said, were) actively preparing the
migration, this is a real pain in the neck. When you are using products
like enterprise schedulers, managed file transfer tools, and messaging
products, which are all multi-platform by essence, knowing that your
tool of choice will be supported (or not) on your target platform is
essential information. And here we're left completely in the dark.
I start thinking that VSI, run mainly by ex-Digital people, make the
sames mistakes that Digital did in the past, i.e. focus on technology
only and forget about everything else. We all know how it ended.
