Assuming one has an everyday desktop system.
Much stuff is done via browser interface these days, so the underlying
platform doesn't matter in terms of familiarity with the interface, but
if I am downloading or uploading stuff, it is much more convenient not
to have to go through another system. One doesn't even have to have
another system.

Right, but not that long ago people were saying "VMS will never, ever
run on x86" with the same amount of conviction they are no saying that
VMS will never have a modern browser.
