I recall doing some system maintence, possibly upgrade, for Fred Rodgers 
(Mr Rodgers World) at one time.  Maybe late 80s, or early 90s.  They 
used a MVII for Word Perfect, perhaps.  Been a long time.

So yeah, at one time VMS was used for desktop apps, in many locations.
