I have been using VMS MAIL for everything since 1991.  I send a few and 
receive dozens of messages per day.  I run a moderation relay for two 
newsgroups.

I have used, at work, pine, elm, Lotus Notes, Outlook and so on and am 
MUCH more comfortable with VMS MAIL.

Different strokes for different folks.

Of course, you need a proper keyboard to really experience the thrill.
