What is "public nowledge"? That some techie from Oracle says something
at a Rdb (or if it was a VMS) update day?
It is still not a commitment, as I read it.

Maybe it was news but probably not that surprising.

What is a "public statement"? Some information about the porting
efforts (if I remember correctly), yes. But that is not a commitment.

Yes, that was bad timing (and maybe bad wording also). If you plan to
stay on VMS, and already are using Rdb, I see little reason to port away
from Rdb. That will probably only have negative results in most cases.
But each have there own situation and requirements to concider.
