It's rare for the local OpenVMS configuration to even have PDF files
around, and locally rarer still to be printing PDF files directly from
OpenVMS. Good that it works, though.

HP LaserJet Pro M148dw supports AirPrint, though oddly no IPP/IPPS
listed in the main specs. (Why odd? AirPrint is built upon and is a
superset of IPP/IPPS. Didn't dig for further specs.)

A Brother printer seemingly analogous to that HP printer is the MFC
L2710. Embedded PostScript and PDF (did have to dig for that detail),
AirPrint and IPP/IPPS, marginally faster printing speed, etc. Under
$200, too.

(I've been using Brother printers for a while, and for various reasons.)

And as mentioned earlier, printer support for AirPrint and IPP/IPPS
communications (and TWAIN for scanners) avoids the need for vendor
drivers for most features.

Lots of choices these days for servers and for peripherals. Akin to
printer prices, the prices on managed switches have dropped
substantially, too.
