Interesting. I never even considered this.

Here in the UK, we may not exactly have the greatest politicians in the
world, but at least we do have (now at least) good reporting of these
types of things so we now have good data about what the death rate is
for each age group.

Even when we didn't have good reporting early on, this is exactly the
kind of analysis that people in the UK were calling for from the beginning.

Performing this analysis may lead to uncomfortable truths (for example,
early bad policy here in the UK regarding care homes), but it is exactly
that kind of data that helps us to understand what is going on so we
can do something about it.
