vgit is another, yes.

I usually use git elsewhere, and shovel the files around manually 
(script), or—where the effort is worth the time and effort setting it 
up and managing it—shovel the files to or from OpenVMS via Samba share 
on the OpenVMS box.

Haven't looked to see if VSI IDE / Visual Studio Code integrates with 
git (or how well, as sequential file formats can be "fun"), but it 
wouldn't surprise.
