There's usually an element of nostalgia in the motive to start an
emulation project. I really doubt anyone who has experience of work on
Itanium at the instruction-by-instruction level views it as a fun time
that they want to recapture. A few months of that turned me from a
moderate enthusiast into a profound sceptic, convinced that it was doomed.
