Yes.  This is fine.  The Linux distros all have the same kernel.  The BSD
variants do not.

80% or maybe even 90% of what is in the Linux kernel is stuff that I have
no need for.  Why should I have it on my machine?  I want an OS that is
intended for what I do, not for what everyone does.  Linux drives me up
the wall because every time I turn around they are adding more stuff to it.
Maybe it's stuff I want.  Maybe it's stuff I have no need for.  The kernel
just keeps getting bigger and bigger and the more stuff running in kernel
space the less secure the system is going to be in the long term.
