[Squaredancing] Whirl & Twirl Square Dance Club - Orlando, Florida

You may, or may not, know that our caller, Danny Robinson, passed away on
Friday February 24th.  We will miss him terribly.  But as most of you know
we must carry on.  Danny would want that.

 

The Whirl & Twirl Square Dance Club in Orlando, Florida is looking for a
caller that will be willing to take over the whole program.  By the whole
program I probably need to explain

 

We are a member run club.  We have a board of 9 couples that govern all
aspects of the club.  We are a very active club with approximately 180
members.  We dance twice a week, every week.  We dance Mainstream on
Wednesday evenings with Line Dancing in between tips.  We dance Plus on
Friday with Rounds between tips.  We have a cuer that takes care of the
rounds but Danny always handled the line dancing as well as the squares on
Wednesday.  We own our own building so we have the luxury of doing what we
want when we want.  We hold 2 basic classes each year.  We teach the class
the first 53 calls and then graduate them and let them join the club into
our Wednesday Mainstream Program.  That is why we call Wednesdays a
Progressive Mainstream.  When a class graduates the Mainstream Program falls
back to the first 53 calls and then "progresses" through the next calls
until the total Mainstream level is obtained.  As soon as the first class
graduates we start a new class.  The first class starts in September or
October and the next class starts in February or March.  The club members
can stay on Wednesday at the Mainstream Level as long as they wish.  But
when they are ready we hold a Plus Class on Monday nights.  We usually only
hold a Plus Class once a year.  Our Round Dance Cuers, Pete & Jan Shankle,
cue the rounds on Friday night and they have a Round Dance Class and Dance
on Thursday evening.
