since you say so ;-) -- it's certainly possible.  i started using tex
on a vms machine, and had to haggle with the managing director of the
firm for a trivial amount of money to make the ln03 tex bitmap font
capable.  (pretty unusual -- they seldom accepted "we need it" as an
argument for equipment purchases.)
