Perhaps it should, but the craftsman learns early on that blades are 
dangerous and to keep fingers etc well clear. Especially if he's lost a 
finger tip or two within that experience.

A similar comparison could be made between the all encompassing welfare 
or police states and democracy. In one case, you become completely 
subservient or institutionalised. In the other you have freedom of 
choice within commonly agreed limits :-)...
