And just searching the disk for files marked NOBACKUP may
prevent much time being wasted saving the dump, page, and swap
files, if they're the only ones so marked. For example:

ALP $ dfu search /charac = nobackup dka0:

%DFU-I-SEARCH, Start search on DKA0: (ALP$DKA0:)

ALP$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSEXE]SYS$ERRLOG.DMP;2 42/138
ALP$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSEXE]PAGEFILE.SYS;2 819200/819237
ALP$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSEXE]SYSDUMP.DMP;1 900000/900036
ALP$DKA0:[000000]PAGEFILE.SYS;4 1600128/1600179
ALP$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSEXE]SWAPFILE.SYS;4 65542/65619

%DFU-I-EOF, End of file INDEXF.SYS, Primary headers : 364100

%DFU-S-FND , Files found : 5, Size : 3384912/3385209

With that info, I'd tend to avoid /IGNORE=NOBACKUP. Of
course, if you don't check, or if you don't notice the
messages, and if your tape is long enough, ..., then doing it
the hard way may make some sense.

Doesn't DIRECTORY have some useful option these days,
possibly obviating DFU for this task?
