Just as business and management organises on an industrial and national
basis to progress their perceived objectives, so labour (thinking also 
of all those professional associations) can only respond in kind for 
their own best interests.  The only essential difference is the colour 
of the collar.  There is only so much an individual can accomplish in 
the face of a consolidated interest.  Whether this sort of tension is 
productive or unproductive depends.
