Sorry for replying to my own post but I've got an important update.
One of my quotes was for a "128-user OpenVMS" license. HP quoted me
$20k but a third-party retailer who hangs out here quoted $5k for an
"unlimited user OpenVMS" license. There is a really good chance that
OpenVMS licensing quotes from HP which are going to large companies
will pay much more.
{ if big companies don't pay more for PCs and printers then why is HP
running this scam with OpenVMS licenses? }
I really feel sorry for anyone who loses their job in this uncertain
economy but HP made a HUGE mistake by "only" outsourcing OpenVMS
Engineering jobs (the true talent IMHO) but not the bloated do-nothing
no-value-add sales weinies. If there was ever a group that needed to
be outsourced to Asia it is HP sales.
