And there are a lot of nifty things that follow from that, like
Mercurial, which as far as I know is the only modern source control
system that runs on VMS.

or HP and Perl. They are still shipping 5.8.6, which is from 2004. 5.8.9
is current in the 5.8.x stream, and 5.10.0 has been out for over a year.
