   Thanks for investigating.  I was just polishing the changes
for 0.9.8j, and firing up a VAX to see what went wrong there.
There were more structural changes to the code than I would
have expected between "i" and "j", too.  Someone seems to be
trying to fiddle with the existing VMS builders, but it's less
obvious that anyone is actually testing the stuff.

   I could do a little testing of your 0.9.8h kit, but I don't
actually do all that much with the stuff (other than notice
when it's not there).
