I had my RX2600 (with drive, without managment card) open once,
and as far as I remember it was part of the drive with no adaptor.

Wouldn't an ordinary SCSI drive work on the SCSI bus?
Well, SCSI CD-RW drives are easy to find, DVD-RW drives
may be harder to find.
