   How closely did you look?  (Look again to make
sure?  I'll believe almost anything but a vague
recollection.)  I've seen many laptop-sized drives
(in or for laptops) with adapters of various kinds
(from the one standard connector to various things).

   Well, yeah.  That's what I used, but external,
and I want something internal.

   I've never seen laptop-sized SCSI drives.  And
DVD-ROM capability is pretty much a requirement
these days.
