I may eventually try that, but I'd like to have the interface running on
just one machine. When I (eventually :-)) get the time, I will try the
Wine approach - I've had pretty good luck with it with other applications.

Have you tried using X over SSH ?

I normally do this Linux to Linux, but it may be worthwhile seeing if
you can get it to work on VMS as well (depending on your stack and it's
version).
