Yes - my idea was to operate it standing up with some kind of homemade 
sound baffling on the sides (cf. my drywall idea) and dust filter on the 
front.

I looked inside and ascertained that the power supplies are in the 
front, under the DVD drive. There is only one power supply, on the left, 
and the space directly under the DVD drive is empty.

Another thing that I noticed is there are 4 fans, labelled as follows:
Fan 1a, 1b - for each processor
Fan 2 - for the memory
Fan 3 - for the PCI cage


This got me thinking - could I get by with only two fans instead of 
four. This is because I only have one processor and zero PCI cards 
installed. Can I just take the fans out or is there a way to disable 
them in the EFI or MP?

And the corrolary question - does the rx2600 have temperature sensors?
