server load of turnkey master image using only USB mass storage:

Supplemental detail.

I managed to make this work:

Normal OpenVMS/I64 boot session.

Clone 8.4 Remastered DVD to USB mass storage.

Create backup saveset of source SCSI drive (Turnkey master) onto USB
mass storage [000000] directory.
(BACKUP/IMAGE DKE1: DNA0:[000000]IMAGE.BCK/SAV)

             \\

On destination machine:

Plug in USB mass storage

Use SHELL to create boot entry:

Shell>bcfg boot add 2 fs0:\efi\vms\vms_loader.efi "USB Stick"

Use boot entry to boot USB mass stoage device

return to boot menu, select entry just created to boot.

Select DCL option from 9-item menu

Mount destination SCSI drive

Restore container file residing on USB mass storage onto destination
SCSI drive
(say BACKUP/IMAGE/INIT SYS$SYSDEVICE:[000000]IMAGE.BCK/SAV)

Use SYS$MANAGER:BOOT_OPTIONS to create entry for destination SCSI
drive

LOGOFF

Option 9 shutdown

Boot from destination SCSI drive
