PostgreSQL is a nice database.

But I would not consider it easier to manage than MySQL.

One thing worth noting is that PostgreSQL is more similar to
Oracle while MySL is more similar to SQLServer/Sybase.

Oracle can not really do anything.

The code is GPL.

And there are already a bunch of forks around.
