I've learned them several times over the years. They
don't stick, so I typically try to reverse-engineer the
source code (again) when I need to know. The VMS I/O scheme
in UnZip has three paths (no VMS attributes, (old) IM
attributes, and (new) PK attributes). Other than a few
comments in the code, I know of no comprehensive/helpful
documentation for the stuff.
Normally, when VMS attributes matter, the archive creator
is wise enough to use "-V". (So who needs good
documentation?)

Do you mean "buy a support contract" or "be satisfied with
the few patches available in the latest Hobbyist kits"? If
the latter, then my FTP authentication bits have expired
already, and I haven't tried to renew them.

When you get the new kit, try:
pipe unzip "-Zv" XXX.zip | search sys$input "encoding software"
and see if you still get "2.3". "3.0" would be evidence that
someone is getting serious about this stuff. (Don't hold
your breath.)
