I got SIMH working on OS X several years ago, and got the networking 
going.  The problem with it at that time was the lack of the idle loop 
fix, and on a single CPU it had the fans running full time.

Some network problem IIRC.

I also grabbed the sources for PostgreSQL way back when and successfully 
compiled and tested it long before OS X was considered a supported 
platform.

At the time everyone was recommending MySQL, and I tried that, but I got 
sick of MySQL's tutorials telling me in every single lesson how great it 
was.  I smelt a rat, and lo and behold, the product managed to corrupt a 
simple database containing grocery bills.  I will point out that this 
was before MySQL got transactional ability...
