He didn't, but given how hard he's been pushing this, one would assume he
must have some detailed insights into how to make this a reality.

Unfortunately, everytime someone asks him questions, then instead of
responding with those insights, he just responds with more poetic rambling.

Totally agree with the first bit; there are many people working on Linux
at userland level who probably don't know the first thing about the topics
I have raised.

However, if you are proposing what Gerard proposes (to port and update VMS)
then for the Linux version of that (proposing bringing up Linux on a new
platform) you do need those skills because only then do you understand what
is required.

Likewise, my questions are designed to make Gerard think about the level
of knowledge required to understand the issues involved, and to hopefully
obtain from him some detailed insights into how to make updating and
porting VMS possible that the rest of us have overlooked.

PS: Of course, it's also possible he has some detailed insights without
having that level of knowledge, in which case I would still like to know
what those detailed insights are.
