And once again, I totally agree with all that. :-)

However, my point still stands: when you start proposing the porting of
VMS, then in order for your proposal to have credibility, you also need
to bring along detailed proposals _and_ also show you have a understanding
of the technical issues involved. This is required if you want to get the
people with the skills to help you motivated enough to actually help with
a port.

The problem here is that when I ask Gerard for those detailed proposals
and answers to technical questions all I get is more poetic rambling.
That leaves the impression Gerard doesn't have the first clue about how
to go about doing such a port and does not understand the issues involved.

It would be nice if he _did_ have a detailed and viable plan as it would be
nice to have a modern version of VMS on multiple platforms. However, just
wishing for something does not make it reality; you also have to show your
plans for turning the wish into reality if you want people to help you.
