The common Adobe apps like flash and reader are available for linux,
fwir, as they are still for sparc/solaris. and power/aix

Linux is extensively used on desktops for software development as the
os of choice, with more and more apps by the day. One of it's greatest
strengths is the availability of common user interfaces between the
various distros and across architectures, ranging from x86 to sparc.
In much the same way that cde was an earlier attempt to standardise
look and feel, desktop environments like gnome provide the same, but
with far more functionality and options. While I would agree that some
distros leave a bit to be desired, others like Debian and especially
Suse are world class.

That's without considering the number of web and other servers running
linux with uptimes of years...

Regards,

Chris
